SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATION


HYPE (Homeschool YMCA Physical Education)

Come learn PE-style games each Tuesday at the Y! HYPE (Homeschool YMCA Physical Education) is led by Y staff in a fun and fulfilling setting. We play games focused on teamwork and building lasting friendships for children. Activities will include sports, wellness, and nutrition spread over 12 weeks.

  • WHO: All kids ages 5-12 
  • WHERE: Brooks Family YMCA (indoor & outdoor spaces)
  • WHEN: Tuesdays 1-2 pm, February 22 - May 10 (12 weeks)
  • FEE: $55 for Brooks Family Y members; $75 for non-members

Little Kickers Soccer

YMCA Soccer is a skill-development program designed to introduce children to soccer basics in a fun and inviting environment. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved as the pair learn new skills, run through drills, and have fun together! The emphasis is on learning, confidence building, and socialization, not on winning or competition. Kids will start each Saturday morning session with a 30-45 minute structured learning time/practice, followed by a 15 minute game. 

  • WHO: 3-5 year olds (broken up by age)
  • WHERE: Charlottesville City & Albemarle Co. fields
  • WHEN: April 9  - May 14 
  • FEE: $65 for Brooks Family Y members; $95 for non-members

REGISTRATION: Open until March 18.

 


Youth Flag Football

Y flag football provides children with a safe and fulfilling introduction to flag football. This league introduces new skills, enhances abilities, and teaches the rules of the sport. Players will have one practice a week and games on Saturdays at area school fields.

  • WHO: All kids in grades 1-8
  • WHERE: Charlottesville City & Albemarle Co. fields
  • WHEN: Practices start March 21 (once a week). Games run on Saturdays from April 2-May 21st (8 weeks).
  • FEE: $120 for Brooks Family Y members; $160 for non-members

Financial assistance available.

REGISTRATION: Open until February 28.

Spots are available on a first-come, first served basis. Please note that due to the size of the league, the YMCA cannot guarantee team and coach requests and we cannot give refunds due to team placement. The earlier a child is registered, the likelier it is that we will be able to fulfill specific requests.

 


Little Rushers Flag Football

Little Rushers provides Kindergarteners the chance to learn the foundations of flag football in a fun and fulfilling way. Games and practices are rolled into one session on Saturdays, and there is no practice during the week. This program is led by Y staff.

  • WHO: Kindergarteners
  • WHERE: Charlottesville City & Albemarle Co. fields
  • WHEN: Saturdays, April 2 - May 7
  • FEE: $65 for Brooks Family Y members; $95 for non-members

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball

Come play co-ed adult volleyball on Wednesday nights at the Brooks Y! Teams can come pre-formed or be built from free agents. Each team will be made up of 6-10 players and will play one match per week for 8 weeks. Skill divisions may be created to help balance out game schedules. Jersey included. Register today!

  • WHO: Adults 18+
  • WHERE: Brooks Family YMCA
  • WHEN: March 23 - May 11, Wednesdays 5:30-9:30pm
  • FEE: $55 for Brooks Family Y members; $65 for non-members

Reservations ARE required for group exercise classes and are NOT required for pick-up basketball or pickleball.


About Basketball

  • Brooks members are able to play pick-up basketball against each other in the gym. 
  • No reservations are required.

About Pickleball 

  • Pickleball is Monday-Thursday from 10am-12:30pm.
  • A net has been set aside in the gym for your use. Please move the net over to the side at the conclusion of Pickleball.
  • No reservations are required.
  • Pickleball cannot start 15 minutes early or run 15 minutes late.

Pickleball Clinics

Learn to play pickleball! Open to all members.
  • FREE
  • First Thursday of every month
  • 9:30-10am, followed by open play 10am-12:30pm.
