We are excited to be partnering with the Virginia Rugby Football Club to deliver a skill-development program designed to introduce children to the basics of non-contact rugby in a fun and inviting environment.

WHO Boys & Girls Grades 1st-6th
WHAT

The Y's rugby program has an emphasis on learning the sport, confidence building, and socialization. Participants will be broken down into the following groups by grades: 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, and 5th-6th. Sunday sessions will consist of 60-minute structured learning time/practice. Grades 3rd-6th will have additional 30-minutes for scrimmages, totally 90 minutes per session. This is a co-ed program.

Players should wear comfortable athletic clothing. Cleats are recommended, but not required.

Mouth guards are required for all players.

Program Goals:

  • Build a strong concept of team work
  • Introduce and build upon basic rugby skills
  • Provide a fun, non-competitive atmostphere for children to learn the fundamentals of rugby
  • Have fun!
