STICKS AND SKILLS

Sticks and Skills is a non-contact lacrosse clinic designed to introduce the sport of lacrosse. This 3-week clinic will be an hour each Saturday from 6-7p in McIntire Park. The focus will be the basics and FUNdamentals of the sport. Equipment will be provided by the Y, but players are welcome to bring their own stick. A mouth guard is required in order to participate.

FALL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

FALL 2019 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

Our YMCA Flag Football league is designed to introduce boys and girls (rising kindergarten through 8th grade) to the fundamental elements of football. From the moment your child steps onto the field, our program is designed to assist each player with the advancement of their individual skill level and football knowledge while enhancing their level of play in a fun and structured environment. Our YMCA Flag Football League is a proud member of the USA Football Association. Each participant will receive an NFL Branded jersey, a flag belt, and a USA Football Membership.
WHO: Boys and girls are welcome to play in this co-ed league. The league is offered to rising kindergarten-8th graders (Fall 2019).

WHEN: Practices will begin August 19th. Games run September 7th through October 26th. There is one postseason game played on November 2nd. Games are played on Saturday mornings, with the possibility of some Friday evening games depending on field availability.

WHERE: Practices and games will take place at Albemarle County and City of Charlottesville fields. The Y will do its best to have games at centrally located fields.

TIME: Practices are set by coaches in mid-August. Practices are held 1-2 evenings per week. Practice times are 1 hours and typically between 5:30 and 7:30 timeframe.

FEE: $120/members, $160/ non-members

Financial Assitance is available to YMCA members. Financial Assistance deadline is July 20th, 2019

REGISTRATION: Registration is open April 3rd - July 26th.
When registering, you will have the opportunity to make a team or coach request. While we will do our best to honor requests, we will can not guarantee any team placement. Teams are formed based on the child's grade and home address. Players are not permitted to play up or down their age group or division. Refunds are not issued unless the program is canceled or a player suffers an injury prior to the beginning of the game. You can register online or at the Brooks YMCA front desk.
We are looking for volunteer head and assistant coaches. Without volunteers, our program can not be successful! You can complete a volunteer application here.

LITTLE RUSHERS (KINDERGARTEN)

Little Rushers meets once a week on Saturdays for a 20-minute practice followed by a 20-25 minute game. Y staff will act as coaches but parent participation is encouraged. Uniforms and flags will be provided. Mouth guards are required in order to play.

YMCA FALL HOMESCHOOL PE

The YMCA will be offering Homeschool PE to students in grades K-8th. This program will be on Tuesdays, from 1-2pm in the basketball gym at the Brooks YMCA. Groups will be split by ages (older and younger group). Activities will include sports, games and wellness activities spread over 12 weeks.

YMCA SOCCER CLINICS

YMCA Soccer is a skill-development program designed to introduce children to the basics of soccer in a fun and inviting environment. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved as the pair learn new skills through drills, and have fun together! The emphasis is on learning, confidence building, and socialization; not winning or competing. Kids will start each session with a 20-25 minute structured learning time/practice, followed by a 15-minute game. Jerseys will be provided to each player.

WHEN: Saturdays from 8-11am (Final times will be posted late August)
