YMCA After School is expanding to serve middle school students at Brooks Family YMCA. This program is open to middle school-aged (13-15 years old) students from any school, including Charlottesville Middle School, private school, and homeschool students.
Designed with teens in mind, YMCA After School at Brooks gives students a safe, welcoming place to go after school while offering more independence, social time, active play, homework support, and access to YMCA spaces.
This program does not provide transportation. Students would have to be dropped off by school bus or guardian. The YMCA will be a bus stop location for students who request transportation through the Albemarle or Charlottesville City Schools. The program operates every day that school is in session and closes at 5:30 pm.
YMCA After School at the Y is designed to give middle school students a balance of independence, structure, and support. Activities may include:
The YMCA is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment where students can stay active, build friendships, complete homework, and spend time in a positive after-school setting.
We provide financial assistance for families in our After School program through our sliding-scale fees. All fees except the highest level are subsidized by the YMCA.
