A safe and enriching place for remote learning

In 2020-21, the Piedmont Family YMCA association created a Virtual Learning Center program to meet the sudden, urgent need for school day childcare created by virtual school.

We served over 200 children at two YMCA Virtual Learning Centers in Charlottesville Virginia, at the Brooks Family YMCA and Walker Upper Elementary School. 81% of our students received financial assistance. Through CARES funding, we were able to provide 100% scholarships for families that qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Thank you so much to the staff, students, families, and donors who came together in a difficult year to make a difference for kids in our community. We are so proud of the lives we changed.

Our YMCA continually strives to go where we're most needed and to adapt as times change. Your support allows the YMCA to create new programs like this one to meet community needs.

We couldn't do work like this without donors like you. Thank you for your support!
