Invitation-only program to boost academic skills + provide summer fun

In partnership with Charlottesville City Schools, the Piedmont Family YMCA is excited to offer an extended-day camp as part of Summer Academy this summer in Charlottesville, VA! Summer Academy is an invitation-only, 4-week, full-day summer enrichment program. The program combines LEARNING and FUN in a camp-like experience while supporting the academic, physical and emotional development of youth. 

 If your child is eligible for the Summer Academy program, you will receive an invitation from your child's principal.

With each afternoon and Friday packed with games, enrichment activities, and more, we will have so much fun at YMCA Summer Academy extended day camp! Charlottesville City Schools students will love having this add-on YMCA camp to round out the week after Monday-Thursday morning summer academy instruction. There is a weekly fee of $65 for the program.

YMCA Summer Academy Extended-Day Camp is licensed by the State of Virginia and is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for the growth and development of your child. 

 

SUMMER ACADEMY 2025

  • For rising first graders through rising sixth graders (invitation-only)
  • June 9 – July 2 (closed June 17 and June 19)
  • Weekly fee of $65 
  • Charlottesville City Schools instruction in reading, writing, and math (M-Th morning)
  • YMCA enrichment activities including STEM, art, and play (M-Th afternoon; all day Friday)
  • Transportation provided

 

LOCATIONS

  • Burnley-Moran Elementary (rising grades 1-4)
  • Walker Upper Elementary School (rising grades 5-6)

 

REGISTRATION

Registration for CCS Summer Academy is open (invitation-only).

Please register your child as soon as possible after receiving an invitation to participate from your child's school principal.

  • You will receive a welcome email the week prior to the start of the program.
  • Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis so please complete step 1 as soon as possible.
