Supportive programs and social events for individuals with diabilities


Everyone deserves a place to belong. Our Adaptive Programs provide welcoming, supportive experiences for individuals with disabilities and their families, with opportunities to build friendships, try new activities, and stay active. From sensory-friendly evenings and social events to adaptive sports and fitness classes, there is something for youth, teens, and adults this season!

The Adaptive Participant Form must be completed and on file prior to attending adaptive programs. 

After School Inclusion Program

Beginning in Fall 2026, the Piedmont Family YMCA is piloting an After School Inclusion Program for Jackson-Via and Tall Oaks Elementary Schools. This program is designed to support students in a safe, enjoyable after school experience with reasonable accommodations and partnership with families. Adaptive Programs Sampler


Sensory Swim Time

A specialty swim time designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or other neurological differences and their families. The pool is closed to the public with limited capacity, water features turned off, and minimal noise for a calmer experience.

WHO: Individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families
WHEN: Saturdays: 5:45pm–7:45am (Check-in 4:30pm–5:15pm) | Sundays: 10:45am–11:45am (Check-in 9:30am–10:15am)
FEE: FREE for members, $5 non-members

Children must remain within arm’s reach of an adult at all times. Supervision is not provided.

Adaptive Parents Night Out

A safe, welcoming and sensory-friendly environment where participants with disabilities and their siblings can enjoy a variety of activities and social time while guardians enjoy an evening to themselves! Dinner is provided.

FEE: $30 members, $45 non-members

Club Connect

The perfect way for teens and young adults with disabilities to build friendships in a fun, supportive environment. Dinner is provided.

Friday Night Social

A monthly social event for adults with disabilities. Have fun in a supportive environment and connect with others. Dinner is provided.

Diverse Abilities Swim Lessons

Diverse Abilities Private Swim Lessons support swimmers with disabilities through one-on-one instruction tailored to their needs. Families begin by completing an intake form and scheduling a consultation.
