Suggested Bequest Language


Below is suggested language to use when drafting your bequest.  These suggested guidelines are not legal advice; all language should be approved by the donor’s attorney.
 

Gift to the YMCA, unrestricted: 

“I give to the Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc., a Virginia corporation, Charlottesville, Virginia, the sum of $___________ (or) ___ percent of the remainder of my estate to be used for the benefit of the Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc. for its unrestricted purposes.”

 

Gift to the YMCA, restricted: 

“I give to the Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc., a Virginia corporation, Charlottesville, Virginia, the sum of $____________ (or) ____percent of the remainder of my estate to be used by Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc. for support of___________________, with alternate support of__________________, if preferred purpose cannot be achieved as determined by the sole and uncontrolled discretion of Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc.”

Restricted Gift Policy


Per the YMCA’s Gift Acceptance Policy, all restricted gift agreements between the Piedmont Family YMCA, Inc. and the donor will include provisions for an alternate use if the restricted purpose cannot be achieved.  A Planned Giving Intent Form can record this provision for donors.

If you have named Piedmont Family YMCA in your will or trust, please let us know by completing the Planned Giving Intent Form with as much information as you are comfortable sharing with us. This will enable us to ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will also enable us to plan for the use of your future gift.
