PURCHASE IN PERSON:

The following types of memberships are available only in-person at the Brooks Family YMCA facility: Teen (13-18), Student, Military, Special/Corporate Partnership, and Financial Assistance (see below for more info). To learn more or sign up for one of these options, visit the Brooks Family YMCA front desk at 151 McIntire Park Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or call us at 434-974-9622.

AGE POLICY:
  • Members 16+ years of age may enter the YMCA without restrictions.
  • Members 13-15 years of age may use the YMCA by themselves after having completed our Teen Orientation with a Wellness Staff Attendant.
  • Children 12 and under MUST be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian (19+) to enter the YMCA for any reason, including lessons or programs.


Membership Benefits 

Benefits of membership to the Brooks Family YMCA include:

  • Access to our state-of-the-art facility with beautiful views of McIntire Park to enjoy while you work out. Our facility includes two year-round indoor pools, wellness floor, basketball court, indoor walking/running track, functional training area, group exercise studios, and very convenient parking.
     
  • A welcoming, inclusive, and nonjudgmental community including supportive and knowledgeable staff
     
  • A wide variety of Group Exercise classes including Les Mills (BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyFlow, etc.), HIIT, cycle, yoga, barre, water exercise, and more.
     
  • Stay & Play, a member benefit where kind and attentive staff watch children 6 weeks - 12 years old for 2 hours per shift at no cost while their parent or guardian remains on the premises.
     
  • FitPath, a FREE, scheduled hour-long, one-on-one orientation for new members with a certified Wellness Coach where you can explore our wellness floor, become familiar with our cardio and strength machines, and talk about your health and wellness goals.
     
  • Exclusive access to purchase Personal Training or Private Swim Lessons at the Y.

YMCA Programs

YMCA members receive priority registration and/or special member pricing for a variety of Y programs:

  • swim lessons for 6-month-olds to adults
  • youth and adult sports
  • summer camp 
  • wellness programs like LEAN and ballroom dancing
  • fun events like Parent's Night Out and Breakfast with Santa
  • and more.
Kindness Cafe

Y members also love visiting Kindness Cafe, a mission-driven coffee shop in the Brooks Y lobby which employs adults with cognitive disabilities while creating a joyful, inclusive community space. 

More than a gym

When you join the Y, you join more than a gym. You join a nonprofit community committed to supporting our neighbors in need. We are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen the foundations of community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.

Payment & Cancellation

Membership payments are drafted monthly on the first of the month. The YMCA requires 30-day notice for membership cancellation. Additional terms may apply with regard to membership promotions. Please stop by the front desk or call us at (434) 974-9622 with any questions.


Financial Assistance Program

Because of our nonprofit mission, at the Y, no one is turned away for their inability to pay. Through our Financial Assistance program, membership is available on a sliding scale based on income and membership type.

This program is part of our commitment to strengthening the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
