Current YMCA Sports Policies & COVID Guidelines:

  • We can typically do refunds for YMCA sports programs up until one week before practice begins.
  • For games and practices at county/school gyms, masks are required at all times for both players and coaches.

  • At the Brooks Family YMCA, all YMCA sports spectators and coaches must wear masks while inside the Y.
  • The Y urges each family to limit additional spectators. Games will continue to be streamed on Facebook each week (here and here).
  • Players should wear a mask when they enter/exit the building and while they’re waiting for their practice or game to start.
  • Unless they have had a recent COVID exposure, players are not required to wear a mask during the game or practices, but we fully support any players who wish to do so.
  • We ask that teams enter the Y approximately 10-minutes before game or practice start time. Due to other games, there’s no space for players to warm up on the basketball court prior to games.
  • No high fives or sharing of water bottles/snacks.
  • Each player is to have their own chair along the sideline for games.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided on each score table for each team.

  • The latest guidance says that high-quality masking over the nose and mouth is important, and that KN95 (with no valve) or paper masks are likely more effective than cloth masks against COVID. Click here for more CDC masking guidance >

COVID Positive Policy

  • If a player tests positive for COVID, they must isolate at home for 5 days - no practices or games at the Y.
    • Day 0 is the first day that the player had symptoms or tested positive if asymptomatic.
    • If fever free for 24 hours without using Tylenol/Advil, player can return to the Y on Day 6.  For days 6-10, player will need to wear a mask during practices and/or games.
    • If the player does not wish to wear a mask while on the court, they can return on day 11.

COVID Exposure Policy

  • If a player has been in close contact and exposed to COVID:
    • If the player is fully vaccinated (and boosted, if eligible), they do not need to quarantine at home, but must wear a mask through day 10.
    • If unvaccinated, the player should quarantine at home - no practices or games - for 5 days. Day 0 is the day of exposure. Player can return to practices/games on Day 6 and will need to wear a mask during practices and/or games through Day 10.
