YMCA Early Learning Center (ages 0-5)

3-Year Goals / Objectives:

  1. Open new YMCA Early Learning Center at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for 148 children in the Fall of 2025.
  2. Diversify and maximize revenue streams (federal, state, local, foundations, donors, self-pay) to be financially neutral.
  3. Continue to prioritize high-quality early childhood education using STREAMin3 curriculum, CLASS observations, and kindergarten readiness assessments.

Measures of Success:

  1. 50% of children receive a scholarship to attend.
  2. Meet expectations for Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5) Quality Rating
  3. 95% of children meet kindergarten readiness benchmarks measured by:
    • Virginia Language and Literacy Screening System (VALLS)
    • Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP)

Teen Programs (ages 13-18)

3-Year Goals / Objectives:

  1. Active Y-USA Teen Leading Practice Cohort to provide safe and inclusive spaces for teens that align with their interests, needs and potential including the Five Pillars: academics, college knowledge, positive relationships, life skills, and positive identity.
  2. Ensure fidelity & quality components of Leaders Club and Youth & Government.
  3. Expand teen programs to e-sports and enhanced camps, including outdoor adventure.

Measures of Success:

  1. 50% of children receive a scholarship to attend.
  2. 85% of teens report improved academic self-efficacy, improved self-management, improved social skills, and improved positive identity.
  3. 85% of parents are satisfied with the program.

School-Age Programs (ages 6-12)

3-Year Goals / Objectives:

  1. Active Y-USA Out of School (OST) Leading Practice Cohort to improve operational and program excellence in after school and summer day camp. Standardize curriculum across all after school sites, including HEPA standards.
  2. Expand OST programming to ACPS, GCPS, and CCS; including outdoor adventure.
  3. Investigate inclusive/adaptive programs and services for children with diverse abilities.

Measures of Success:

  1. 50% of children receive a scholarship to attend.
  2. 85% of children report increased physical activity, enhanced social and emotional skills, increased self-esteem, made a new friend, and had fun.
  3. 85% of parents are satisfied with the program.
YOUTH

Aquatics & Sports Programs (ages 0-18)

3-Year Goals / Objectives:

  1. Establish multiple entry points into Y-aquatics and Y-sports: (1) developmental, (2) recreation, and (3) competitive. Investigate travel sports.
  2. Partner with youth-serving inclusive/adaptive sports for children with diverse abilities (Therapeutic Adventures, Arc of the Piedmont, Special Olympics).
  3. Establish more robust partnership with UVA athletics, including Cavalier Aquatics “Buddy Program.”

Measures of Success:

  1. 50% of children receive a scholarship to attend.
  2. 85% of participants report increased physical activity, confidence, and self-esteem, made a new friend, and had fun.
  3. 85% of parents are satisfied with the program.
